The local dining scene is wonderfully unique, especially if you are new to the Almería region of Spain. Many traditional bars and venues here still proudly honor the classic Spanish custom of serving a completely free, delicious tapas alongside every single daytime alcoholic drink you buy! Whether you are looking for a hearty traditional Spanish breakfast, a relaxed afternoon menu, or brilliant live music, the area has some fantastic gems. Here are two of our absolute favorite spots that we visit regularly.

Atodo Vela Terrace BarThis highly popular terrace bar is conveniently located right at the side of the Torremar Natura urbanization. It operates as a wonderfully friendly, low-cost venue where the local staff have a great understanding of English, making it one of the most welcoming places to eat in Vera Playa for international visitors. They open their doors early from 09:30 hours for delightful traditional Spanish breakfasts, serve up a really tasty custom evening menu, and feature frequent live music events. It is a fantastic spot to sit out, relax in the sunshine, and enjoy the Spanish pace of life. ✦ Mark & Andrea’s Tip: During the daytime hours, you will always get a small, delicious free tapas served alongside your drinks! |

Chiringuito Natsun BarIf you are looking for incredible beachfront places to eat in Vera Playa, this well-established, dedicated naturist beach bar and restaurant is an absolute must. It is perfectly located right directly on the sand of the main naturist beach, offering a complete, hassle-free naturist zone for your afternoon by the sea. The drinks are exceptionally well priced, the staff are famously friendly (with several being semi-English speaking), and the beach views are unbeatable. Just like Atodo Vela, your daytime drinks come with a free tapas! ✦ Food Recommendation: Do not leave without trying their food—their fresh seafood Paella is absolutely gorgeous! |
To truly enjoy the best **places to eat in Vera Playa**, it helps to understand the traditional Spanish holiday clock. If you turn up to a local restaurant for dinner at 18:30 or 19:00, you will likely find the kitchen only just open for business. As the locals eat much later than we do in the UK, adapting their schedules to the beautiful Mediterranean climate, a later arrival can be highly beneficial to get your evening meal.
Lunch (Almuerzo): This is an important meal of the day for Spanish families. Restaurants generally open their kitchens for lunch between 12:00 and 16:00. This is the absolute prime window to enjoy a fresh, slow-cooked menu del día (menu of the day) or a large pan of seaside paella whilst on the beach.
The Tapas Window & Dinner (Cena): In the afternoon, between 12:00 and 15:00, the town relaxes. This is a brilliant time to hop between beachfront chiringuitos and terrace bars to enjoy cold drinks and free tapas. However, when it comes to full evening meals, local restaurant kitchens normally open up at 18:00 at the absolute earliest, with larger restaurants opening from 19:00 as locals pour in to dine right up until midnight!
