Discover the Local Area:
Vera Playa & Beyond
When you stay in one of our managed holiday rentals, you are perfectly positioned to enjoy everything this beautiful region has to offer. Here is our personal local guide to making the most of your stay.
The beautiful sandy beaches of Vera Playa are easily accessible from all of our apartments. Guests can seamlessly enjoy both the long, relaxing naturist beach and the stunning non-naturist coastlines situated right next to each other.
You will find an incredibly warm, friendly welcome at the many beachfront tapas bars and chiringuitos (beach bars) lining the routes to the sea. If you are looking for dedicated non-naturist options, the area also boasts an exceptional selection of traditional restaurants, family bars, diverse shops, and evening nightlife—all within comfortable walking distance.
Situated right on the edge of the naturist urbanizations is a highly popular hotspot known locally as “Hotel Street.” Here, you will find a fantastic, expanded selection of English and Spanish bars, superb restaurants, and adult-themed evening venues.
It is just an easy 10 to 15-minute stroll from all of our managed naturist properties, and approximately 20 to 25 minutes from our non-naturist apartments. (or a quick taxi/bus ride)
For Daily Essentials: Right next door is the large, well-stocked Consum Supermarket, a local pharmacy, and The Vera Plaza shopping complex. Please note that while the town readily welcomes naturists, the commercial shopping complex itself is designated as a non-naturist zone. Vera Playa is a wonderfully diverse, safe, and LGBTQ+ friendly destination that welcomes everyone with open arms.
Located just behind the Consum supermarket parking lot is a massive water theme park complete with thrilling slides, high drops, and fun water chutes. It is the perfect, refreshing day out to cool down on hot sunny days, offering fantastic entertainment that will keep families amused for hours.
Vera Playa is surrounded by fantastic local towns like Puerto Rey and Palomares. A short drive away brings you to the charming fishing village of Villaricos, famous for its magnificent Sunday fresh produce market and serene non-naturist coves.
A cheap day-return bus ticket serves the whole local loop including Vera Town, Garrucha, Mojácar, and Palomares. Timetables are more frequent in the summer and a printed copy is waiting inside your apartment!
Garrucha is a fully operational commercial port featuring a beautiful, large modern marina. It is home to major banks, supermarkets, and branded high-street shops alongside an exceptional selection of seafood restaurants and authentic Spanish takeaways. Don’t miss their traditional Spanish street market every Friday morning!
The iconic, whitewashed Andalucian village of Mojácar Pueblo is nestled high into the mountainside overlooking Mojácar Beach. It features amazing winding streets, vibrant tapas bars, and restaurants with breathtaking scenic views. Mark’s Insider Tip: There is a natural mountain spring right in the village where you can collect fresh, pure drinking water for free—so don’t forget to pack your containers and your camera!
Did you know many major cinematic blockbusters were filmed in the famous desert landscapes of nearby Cabo de Gata? Located roughly an hour’s drive south of Vera Playa is an authentic, specialized Western movie theme park known locally as Mini Hollywood. It is brilliant fun for all ages and well worth a full day trip—you might even get caught in the middle of a wild-west gunfight show!
Officially recognized since 1990 as Europe’s leading naturist resort destination, Vera Playa features a dedicated 2-kilometer stretch of pristine beach specifically reserved for clothing-optional use, bordered by traditional family beaches. The community includes several beautifully designed, private naturist urbanizations, including:
We are proud to offer premium properties located within many of these premier naturist zones, as well as a wonderful selection of apartments within the local non-naturist holiday areas to suit whichever holiday style you prefer.
Fun History Fact: On July 21st, 2013, Vera Playa officially set a Guinness World Record! Organized in association with the Vera Town Hall and Tourist Office, 729 skinny-dippers entered the sea simultaneously at El Playazo beach on the designated “Day Without Swimsuits,” smashing the previous global record.
